Fairton School is a well-resourced rural Primary school on the outskirts of Ashburton. The school was originally opened in 1901, and since then has remained a focal point for the local Fairton community. We continue to develop strong connections between school, whanau and the community.
Class sizes are small and means staff to child ratios can be kept low. This enables us to develop excellent relationships with all our pupils, and to understand their needs as learners and individuals. We have 3 Teachers, a Teacher Aide and an Office Manager.
The staff here are committed to providing high-quality teaching and learning opportunities, and to ensuring the success and achievement of all individuals. Diversity is valued here, as are individual strengths. We are responsive to the needs of all our learners and provide programmes of support for those that need it, as well as extension when required.
Please come and visit if you are interested in our school. Livia our Office Manager will make an appointment and I will show you around our very special place.
Kind regards,
Jude Irwin
Principal

Dear Parents,
This coming Friday 19th June we are holding a fundraiser for the Life Education Trust.
All children are encouraged to wear a yellow accessory (not full mufti) and to please bring a gold coin donation.
There might even be a small prize for the most creative accessory.
This is a fantastic opportunity for our school to support Life Education and everyone's favourite giraffe, Harold.
Many thanks
Dear Parents,
The following list are the children who will be representing Fairton School at the Between Schools Spelling Bee in the Chertsey Hall next week.
Year 1: Sophie, Charlotte, Zander
Year 2: Harper, Poppy S, Aureila
Year 3: Maisie, Cooper, Lucy H
Year 4: Pippa, Freya, Indi
Year 5: Bella & Rose
Year 6: Maddison & Evie
Please find attached a letter with all the details.
Jude and Angela will be accompanying the children to the spelling bee, and Jude is one of the judges. Tish will remain at school with the children not in the spelling bee. She has a helper coming to assist her.
Parents of finalists are welcome to attend. Pre-schoolers need to be supervised well as the children need a level of quietness to hear the spelling words.
We need help with transporting to and from Chertsey. Children need to be at the Chertsey Hall by 9.45 am ready for a 10 am start. Juniors go first, and then there is a shared morning tea. Juniors may then be taken back to school if possible. Seniors will be after morning tea.
If you will be taking your child to and from, and also have some room for extras, please let Livia know, as we want to organise transportation before Friday this week. If your child needs transportation, let Livia know this too, as she will sort this out.
Encourage your finalists to keep learning their lists, and the list higher too.
Kind regards,
Jude

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We are excited to share the details for our upcoming class golf trip! Here is everything you need to know about the day:
Golf Trip to the Ashburton Golf Club (37 Golf Links Road, Allenton) - Thursday 11 June
· 9:30 AM: Leave Fairton School and drive to the golf course.
· 10:00 AM: Golf lessons begin!
· 12:00 PM: Head back to school.
Transport
To ensure everyone stays safe and gets the most out of the experience, we will have 3 staff members as well as the Golf Coach at the Golf Course. Staff will be driving the students to and from the golf course in their private vehicles, as well as assisting with group rotations during the lessons.
What to Wear
Please ensure your child comes to school prepared for the day with:
· Closed-toe shoes (essential for safety on the course)
· Warm school uniform clothing
· A raincoat
· A named drink bottle
Weather
Please note: Because this is an outdoor activity on the golf course, if the weather is too wet on the day, we will unfortunately have to cancel the trip. We will keep a close eye on the forecast and let you know as early as possible if any changes need to be made.
If you have any queries at all, please reply directly to this email.
