Please phone school or text before 8.45am if your child is going to be absent from school. A written note explaining the absence is required upon your child's return to school. If a child is absent at 9am with no explanation a phone call will be made to you.
Students are welcome to arrive at school from 8.30am onwards. They should have enough time to organise themselves before the bell rings. Please do not send your child to school before 8.30am as there will be no supervision.
Assembly is held every second Friday afternoon at 2.15pm in the school library. A usual assembly involves singing the National Anthem, presenting merit certificates, singing, children sharing class work and a story read by a student. Assembly is run by the senior students.
Bicycles, Scooters etc
Children who bike to school are asked to keep their bikes in the stand by the front gate during the school day. Scooters, skateboards and ripsticks are kept in the stand behind the PE shed. The court area is able to be used for these activities during break times. The car park is out of bounds. Children must be wearing helmets whilst using these.
See Transport under the 'School Information' tab. A Bus Contract will need to be signed by parents and children if your child will be using the school bus.
Camp and Junior Sleepover
This is held in Term One each year. Whilst the seniors are away for approximately fours days, the juniors will have two days of activities and a sleepover at school for one night.
Please use the parent and visitor car park to drop off and pick up children. This is on the eastern side of the swimming pool. Please do not use the bus bay or staff car park for this.
Children Leaving Class
Please ensure the class teacher or office knows before school if your children is going to be absent for part of the day ie to attend a dental appointment.
We have two classes at Fairton School. The Junior class consists of New Entrants through to Year 3 children. The Senior class has Year 4 to Year 6 students.

You should expect to see a fortnightly newsletter on a Wednesday during Term time and a notice on the alternate Wednesday if needed. Please ensure you read these as they contain vital school information.
In the event of a major emergency or disaster, you will be sent a text and telephoned. In case of telecommunications being unusable, please check the school website regularly as this will be used as an alternated method of communication.
If your child will be attending Fairton School, the sooner you can arrange participating in the 4 Year Old Programme, School visits or just a regular visit for an older child, the better. Having children pre-enrolled before the begin at Fairton makes for an easier transition for your child, the admin staff and the teacher.
In the case of any head injuries, you will be contacted immediately. All other injuries are recorded in the first aid record book and sent home that afternoon.
Friends of Fairton
This is our parent group (in other schools it may be called Parent Teacher Association or the Home and School group). This groups works hard to help the school fundraise to purchase extra resources or allow our children to do activities they may not have had the opportunity to do otherwise. The Friends of Fairton also help the school staff organise other things such as suppers at school events, the Year 6 Leavers Dinner etc. If you would like to be a part of this group please contact the office.
These are held in Feb/March and June/July. Students are expected to attend with their parents.
These come home in December for all children. In June/July the seniors will have reports relating to the National Curriculum expectations. Junior National Curriculum expectation reports are issued after being at school for 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 and 120 weeks.
This is kept in the green chest in the foyer. Let's keep it empty by naming all clothing items that come to school.
There is a pie warmer available in the staffroom for children. Children need to put their lunch in here before school or at morning tea time. It will be turned on by a staff member. Please wrap items in tin foil.
